City Heights CDC’s 4th annual Winter Extravaganza brought snow to Teralta Park, along with a community toy distribution and local vendors, inviting residents and neighbors to enjoy a free and festive holiday celebration in City Heights.

Residents, families, and local businesses filled University Avenue for CicloSDias, a celebration of car-free streets, transforming over a mile of our busy corridor into an open street, welcoming everyone to walk, bike, skate, and explore our community. 

After eight weeks of learning, planning, and refining their business ideas, 25 local entrepreneurs celebrated their CHOPPED graduation with a community showcase at the Lotus Garden.

Two hundred volunteers joined us to beautify University Avenue in City Heights. In partnership with the City Heights Business Improvement District and Maintenance Assessment District, Beautify the Block revitalized one of our neighborhood’s busiest corridors.

The UABRF is a one-time grant for businesses along University Avenue in City Heights that endured the prolonged and financially exhausting construction project lasting over two years and resulting in significant revenue loss.

The 2024 City Heights Winter Extravaganza was a success. Thank you to the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, the Toys-for-Tots Foundation, CDC team members and volunteers, community partners, and especially the dedicated business owners who participated as vendors.

As part of their outreach efforts, our Economic Development team participates in business walks throughout City Heights.  During their latest business walk, the Economic Development team partnered with the City of San Diego’s Economic Development Department.

Ranielle has hit the ground running, and her teammates are already describing her help as “essential” and praising her for “jumping in to support”—she’s been so helpful!

Cohort 4 successfully saw 47 business owners complete the program walking away with key skills for business success.
