City Heights’ Third CHOPPED Cohort Completes Entrepreneur Training Program
Congratulations to our third CHOPPED Cohort—our largest to date!
More than 25 local entrepreneurs recently celebrated completing the eight-week intensive business and permitting course led by our Economic Development team. Over the course of the program, participants engaged in a comprehensive curriculum covering key topics like taxes, marketing, and business capital access. Through this training, entrepreneurs gained the confidence and knowledge to take their businesses to the next level, including step-by-step support in permitting and legalizing their operations.
In honor of their achievement, we celebrated at the Lotus Garden in City Heights, hosting community members and partners for an afternoon showcase. Each business owner had the opportunity to display their products and share their 1-minute business concept with attendees during an open-house tasting event.
City Heights Opportunity Program Pursuing Entrepreneurial Development (C.H.O.P.P.E.D) provides access to the often-challenging permitting process, offers resources and expert connections typically unavailable to local entrepreneurs, and continues mentorship well beyond the program — ensuring students have the guidance they need to legitimize and grow their businesses. By equipping entrepreneurs with knowledge and confidence, CHOPPED strengthens San Diego’s business community and prepares it to better serve the public.
