Beautify the Block: A Community Cleanup in City Heights
More than 200 residents, partners and neighbors came together for Beautify the Block, a community-driven cleanup and storefront revitalization event focused on refreshing the University Avenue corridor in City Heights.
The event highlighted a collective commitment to improving the quality of life by reclaiming and maintaining public spaces so they reflect the cleanliness and safety families and residents deserve.
Improvements spanned 1.5 miles along University Avenue, from the 805 freeway to Euclid Avenue. Volunteers assisted with storefront improvements at North Park Dental, 777 Noodle House, Panamerican Travel and the Red Sea Ethiopian Restaurant. Other teams repainted more than 40 planters and trash receptacles, while also removing litter and performing abatement along the corridor.
Since assuming responsibility for the Maintenance Assessment District and Business Improvement District, City Heights Community Development Corporation has focused on uniting residents, neighbors and partners to promote intentional care, enhance safety and foster economic development.
We’re grateful to our sponsors and partners whose generous contributions helped make the event a success. A special thank you to the City Heights community- decades of continued involvement have laid the foundation for reclaiming our neighborhood with pride and advancing improvements that honor residents’ right to enjoy a clean and safe place to live.
