City Heights residents receive free homeownership workshops focused on breaking barriers to owning a home.

Our Resident Services team continued a decade-long tradition, distributing more than 200 turkeys directly to families and residents in City Heights, helping our community prepare for Thanksgiving and the holiday season.

Resident Services partnered with Hollywood Palms residents for a Community Activation Day focused on revitalizing shared spaces and supporting families. 

Teng Panha, one of the 2024 Champion Scholar awardees, shares how $1,000 made the difference. For her, pursuing higher education without the added pressure of working is both a joy and a privilege.

Divorce was never part of her plan, but when it happened, she found herself struggling with addiction and homelessness for years. She lost her daughter, her home, and, at times, even herself. She remained stuck in that cycle because she desperately needed help.

Born in Sudan, Entesar now lives in City Heights with her family. She spends her days nurturing her four children while managing the many responsibilities of an at-home parent.

City Heights CDC’s annual turkey distribution for City Heights residents was successful! Seeing our team and community exchange smiles and gratitude, as we embark upon the holiday season, is truly heart-warming.

“Helping bridge gaps between residents and essential resources gets me excited.

Their limited English—which is always a hindrance to accessing resources and opportunities—is less of a problem when they have help. It’s humbling for me, being able to help make these connections.”

…earlier this week, a young Metro Villas resident came into the office to share that his grades had improved. He said, “I am better at mathematics now, and it’s thanks to the after school progam here. Thank you.”
