City Heights CDC is hosting our 2nd Annual Winter Extravaganza in the City Heights Community!

Do you operate a small business or are a sidewalk vendor? Would you like to learn more about resources geared toward supporting your business? Join us on October 14!

With the support of artist and designer, Josue Baltezar and his team, youth artists in City Heights led and created a collaborative mural for the community space.

Community art belongs to the you, the community, and we can’t wait to see these young artists showcase their collaborative mural project made especially with our beloved neighbors and City Heights community in mind.

Do you have a connection with visual art and hope to develop your artistic and professional skills? Are you a current high school student or recently graduated from a local City Heights campus? If this sounds like you, our upcoming youth-led mural project at Tierra Central, Piece X Piece, is for you!

Join us Friday and Saturday, April 14-15 at Tierra Central for a party celebrating Cambodian culture through food, music, traditional dance, and more.

Please join our Cambodian neighbors in ringing in the New Year, and be sure to invite anyone else who loves good food and community fun!

We’ve hosted a lot of community events over the past 40 years, but the Winter Extravaganza may have been one of the most fun winter events we’ve ever put on!

After many months of deliberation and community engagement, we settled on the name ‘Tierra Central’ because of this idea of ‘middle ground’ or an in-between space, where anyone from the community could feel welcomed and celebrated.

To make it all happen, our Economic Development team kindly requests the help of volunteers who can assist with setting up, crowd control, activity supervision, and clean-up.

In celebration of the holiday season, our Economic Development team is collaborating with local businesses to host Tierra Central's first Winter Extravaganza.

They are called The Birria Truck (@thebirriatruck) and Las Tias (@las_tiasfoodtruck) and they sell delicious Mexican food!

At the age of one, Tran and her family migrated from Vietnam to City Heights. After graduating, Tran ditched her pursuit of a career in real estate, instead committing her efforts to protect City Height’s essence - its people.

Tran shares how growing up in City Heights framed her perspective of a successful and meaningful career.

Fern Street Circus is about performance and fun, but it’s also circus for social change, working alongside young people in the community to instill confidence, promote cultural understanding, and help youth realize their potential.

In commemoration of the holiday, Tierra Central hosted its first Mid-Autumn Moon celebration, a traditional celebration amongst Asian cultures honoring the moon for its harvest-giving light.
