Teralta Park Beautification Day United Over 100 Volunteers
When we come together, we transform our community.
Recently, City Heights CDC and our Maintenance Assessment District team partnered with San Diego Urban Forestry and the District 9 Office to host a community beautification day at Teralta Park. More than 100 volunteers came together, planting new trees, refreshing the grounds with freshly laid mulch, and repainting planters and the play structure.
A Park Built by Community
Teralta Park is emblematic of what community can achieve when residents stand together. Built atop the SR-15 freeway, the park is one of only a few green spaces serving families living near the freeway. For years, City Heights residents advocated for a safe place to gather, move, and enjoy the outdoors. Today, Teralta Park stands as a symbol of that collective effort and belief that our community deserves quality green spaces.
When we took on stewardship of the Maintenance Assessment District, we made it a priority to continue caring for and uplifting shared community spaces like Teralta Park.
Investing in Quality of Life
Through this beautification effort, our hope is that residents feel invited to spend more time outside and enjoy Teralta Park as a safe space for families, children, and neighbors of all ages. Spaces like this encourage connection, support wellbeing, and offer a sense of calm as residents walk through our neighborhood park.
As we continue maintaining community spaces along University Avenue and throughout City Heights, we extend our sincere thanks to our partners, neighbors, and especially the City Heights students who showed up ready to care for their park.
