TEAH Task Force Conducts Placemaking Workshop to Inform $3.3 Million Investment in City Heights
With an incoming $3.3 million dollar investment to improve the area surrounding University Ave and Teralta Park, community members and the TEAH Task Force are working to define priorities and drive the redevelopment project.
At our January meeting, our Transportation and Planning team facilitated a community placemaking workshop. We asked community members to identify priorities, from public amenities to enhancements. Split into groups, community members and Task Force members shared what is most important to them, helping guide priorities for the SR-15 Sustainable Redevelopment Project.
During the meeting, residents shared visions for community gardens and planter beds suitable for native plants and gardening, comfortable seating, and gathering areas. Among the most important requests were lighting, landscaping, and infrastructure improvements that support safety for families and residents. Residents also emphasized the need to account for regular maintenance.
Feedback gathered during the workshop will inform future phases of the SR-15 Sustainable Redevelopment Project, helping translate placemaking principles into actionable, community-led ideas that will guide the investment.
