Statement from Alexis Villanueva, CEO of City Heights CDC
As a daughter of a Colombian immigrant, I am devastated by the violence impacting communities and families across the country. While I grieve the harm and fear many are experiencing, I am holding strong for the community that I love so much.
At City Heights CDC, our focus remains on serving our community with care, dignity, and responsiveness. We will show up for City Heights, today and every day.
We understand that many families are experiencing uncertainty and fear right now, and we want residents to know that City Heights CDC remains here as a trusted partner. Guided by one of our core values in the organization, adaptability, our role is to work alongside the community to connect families and small businesses to resources, provide essential and supportive services, and respond to needs as they arise.
We will continue to support housing stability, food access, economic opportunity, transportation and planning efforts, and overall community wellbeing. Our team is available, accessible, and committed to listening to residents and meeting them where they are with respect and compassion.
City Heights has always been a place where neighbors look out for one another. We will continue to show up, work alongside our partners, and focus on what we do best: supporting the stability and wellbeing of the people who call this community home.
