From the desk of our director:

Good news if you live in San Diego!

Our City Council and Mayor are providing thoughtful and just leadership in this current crisis.  I just watched the City Council meeting online and am excited to say that all our collaborative work with our partners has made a difference and the City Council has agreed to evaluate proposals for a 30 day moratorium on all rental evictions and mortgage foreclosures, as well as other temporary measures to help us all during this difficult time.  Please click this link for details.

Over the last couple days, we spearheaded a campaign to get a letter requesting an eviction moratorium signed by 30 local community based agencies!  This was instrumental in assuring Council Members that the community really needs this kind of financial relief, as they lose their jobs and their businesses founder.

We continue to provide emergency rental assistance to those on the brink of eviction and because of the increased need right now, we will also be providing funding for other emergencies which may affect a family’s or individuals ability to stay in their home.
