We Distributed More Food In Ten Weeks Than All Of 2019!

In 2019, our Resident Services team received, processed, packed, and distributed 390 ‘packages’ of emergency food.

In just March and April of this year, the team distributed 321 packages of emergency food. That means we’re on pace to provide more emergency food in 10 weeks than we did in ALL of 2019!

In addition to emergency food appointments with community members, the team delivers meals to seniors every week. So why is this important? What does the emergency food and the senior meal delivery accomplish?

They help keep chronically ill seniors in their homes and safely removed from potentially life-ending illnesses (including COVID).

They give at-risk community members another option for keeping kids fed, saving money, and making sure bills get paid.

They help a mother battling cancer take care of her children, making sure she has one less thing to worry about during chemo treatments.

They provide fresh, local produce bags from New Roots garden (thank you to the donors who made this possible!).

Sometimes they also include a hot cooked meal (thanks to these friends and partners!).

That food delivery goes out to five of our affordable housing locations across the community, and it’s an all-day (sometimes multi-day) process. The team delivered food for years before COVID, but after COVID the weekly work became even more essential—and more exhausting. The process of receiving, packaging, and delivering this food is not simple. There are best practices, there are health and safety protocols to follow, and everything is tailored as much as possible to benefit our residents and members of the community.

So to our team, to donors and partners, and to you our beloved community: thank you for making this possible!
