Join us on Sunday, October 27 any time from 10 AM to 5 PM at the City Heights Cumbia Party Hub (Fair@44) as part of this year’s CicloSDias Open Streets event.

We are honoring two Colombian innovations here in City Heights on Sunday, October 27 from 10 AM to 5 PM. The first car-free Open Streets event, Cloclovía, was held in Bogotá, Colombia in 1974 thanks to organizers like Jaime Ortiz Mariño. Since then, Colombian cities have closed off main streets to car traffic every Sunday in order to allow families enjoy their streets by walking, jogging, rolling, strolling, biking, and moving free of cars.

City Heights will be hosting a portion of this year’s CicloSDias, San Diego’s very own Open Streets event, and incorporating another Colombian innovation: cumbia. This year’s route includes portions of Adams Ave., 30th St., Vista St., and 44th St. (route highlighted below).

Make sure to stop by our City Heights Cumbia Party Hub at the Fair@44 any time from 10 AM to 3 PM (after party from 3-5 PM). We’ll be hosting local food vendors, The Avenue Sports Bar, and entertainment from Zumbia (Zumba + Cumbia) to LA’s only modern cumbia/luchador band, El Conjunto Nueva Ola!

City Heights Hub Schedule:

10:30 AM - 12:00 PM - Zumbia with DJ Jules

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM - El Conjunto Nueva Ola

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - After Party with DJ AIRnandez

We need volunteers! Help us make this amazing event happen by volunteering at any of the hubs and along the route. Please contact skii@sdbikecoalition.org for more details and join other volunteers at Tiger! Tiger! (3025 El Cajon Blvd.) on October 24th at 6:00 PM for a volunteer orientation, a free t-shirt, and fun times.

Let’s celebrate Open Streets together!
