BLVD To Beach Community Bike Ride : Creating Equitable Coastal Access at Silver Strand!

The BLVD to Beach Community Bike Ride was held this past April 8th! Nearly 60 Community members enjoyed a coastal bike ride on a beautiful Sunday morning!

Community members met at Pepper Park in National City and rode all the way to Silver Strand State Beach.

Along the route we were able to learn about the importance of equitable coastal access that has long been advocated by City Heights CDC and partners.

The ride ended at Silver Strand, where community members heard from CA State Parks staff and gave feedback to a plan that came as a result of the Silver Strand 4 All Campaign that will create affordable camp sites.

During the ride community members were able to hear from Port Commissioner Sandy Naranjo who spoke about the importance of enjoying the outdoors and the coast and Dr. Stan Rodriguez who discussed Kumeyaay Maritime &  history at Silver Strand. All of this while also enjoying delicious Tacos made by Don Chuy from El Uno Bar in City Heights.

We are thankful to our partners: the SD Bike Coalition, California Coastal Commission Outdoor Outreach, San Diego Foundation, StayTrueCycle Works and Latino Outdoors.
