A lot changed during the pandemic. The world has changed, and so has our team. We’re thrilled to introduce you to several new board members, starting with Antonio Figueroa!

"Well this is a great opportunity,” Antonio shared. “It’s my first board position. I grew up alongside my grandmother, Hermelinda Figueroa, who has been active in the community for so long, and I’ve seen a lot of good happen in the community. Now I’m looking forward to being part of that good and not just seeing it.”

A collegiate soccer referee and businessman, Antonio has a passion for what’s happening on our sidewalks, in our shops, and out on the streets.

“I feel we need to bridge the disconnect between our board and the people on the streets of City Heights, and I’m excited to be part of that.”

As the world reopens and we all figure out how to be safely, respectfully in community together, it’s exciting to think of the good work ahead for this community.

“One lesson I learned from my grandmother is to just not take ‘no’ for an answer. When I told her ‘no’, she went and found someone who would say ‘yes’ and then I get left behind. She’s taught me to not be too quick to accept ‘no’ for an answer, and I plan to bring that spirit to our work in City Heights.”

Good things to come!
