Meet Tom—Actor & Foodie (Story 9/40)

Hey all, my name is Tom Bui and I work in City Heights, one of San Diego’s most culturally diverse neighborhoods. In fact, at least 30 languages and dialects are spoken, and those are just the ones we know!

As home to a wide variety of ethnic communities, City Heights is the place to experience authentic cuisine—from Mexico to El Salvador Vietnam to Eastern Africa. It is a community that is also committed to expression and dialogue with unique public art and spaces.

For so many people who live and work in City Heights, it is the land of second chances. People from all over the world come here to start over and give back to a community that values inclusion and equity.

Working for the City Heights Community Development Corporation, I have an insider’s view on what makes this such a unique place to visit and I’ve absolutely LOVED exploring and eating my way through this incredible community!
