All year long, we’re celebrating our 40th birthday with 40 stories of good work in the community, and this week we’re introducing a new team member, Mauricio! This young man has only been with us for a few weeks now, but he’s a welcome addition to our Resident Services efforts. Here’s an intro from Mauricio in his own words:

”Hi, I am Mauricio, a native San Diegan, and I am 22 years old.

This new role at City Heights CDC has taught me to be more people-centric, where I get to meet wonderful people every day. One thing that has totally caught me off guard was how much I can relate with the residents I work with! For example, when I do after-school programming with the kids at Hollywood Palms, I often see myself in them. Growing up in City Heights and getting to build relationships with diverse people puts a smile on my face.

Some of my hobbies are watching soccer and listening to podcasts, and I am stoked because the World Cup is less than a month away!”

A warm welcome to Mauricio, and thanks for following along as we share these stories! You can read all of the previous stories here.
