Meet Ashton, Our New Tenant Services Project Manager!

Good news! Many of you know there’s a labor shortage, and you may know we’ve been looking to hire for a few positions on our team. In the coming weeks, we’ll introduce you to some new faces we’re thrilled to have onboard, starting with Ashton.

Why is Ashton, a longtime San Diegan, excited to work in the City Heights community?

Ashton shared, "My professional background is mostly international nonprofit work, but City Heights is a kind of microcosm of all that. It's the same basic justice work but focused on one community, which is exciting.”

This excitement is something we’ve noticed in several long-time nonprofit professionals. When the work is focused on one community in a specific place, it all becomes more personal, intimate, and urgent feeling. International NGO work is often fast-paced with decisions being made from 30,000 feet, but diving deep into one community requires a commitment to that community. That’s a commitment to learn, listen, and be present alongside the community as often as possible, and Ashton is eager for the challenge!

“I'm already seeing what a community-focused organization can do,” Ashton said. “So many people are on the brink of eviction or homelessness, and we have the ability to help. I'm grieved by how many people are struggling but honored to be part of this effort to help!"

Thanks to all of you who’ve helped share about and fill these job positions recently, and stay tuned for good things to come!
