This week we’re celebrating two women who embody community care in powerful ways: Rickie Brown and Miriam Rodriguez.

We’re honored to have Rickie on staff and to have had Miriam as a board member. They’ve worked on behalf of City Heights residents for years as team members, but their impact in the community goes well beyond the work they do alongside our team.

Just this week, Rickie was appointed to the City of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission and, in addition to working as the property manager of Hollywood Palms apartments, is a long-time housing justice advocate and expert with too many accomplishments to list.

Also this week, Miriam was awarded the City Heights Rotaract Club’s Peacemaker of the Year Award for her work as a promotora and community health advocate with the San Diego Latino Health Coalition.

Rickie and Miriam are pillars in this community, the kind of people who know how to organize and get work done effectively as well as people you can rely on to stop and make time for you. They care, and it absolutely shows.

Congratulations to you both!
