Active Transportation Manager Randy Van Vleck has been working on mobility projects for the CHCDC since August of 2010. In 2008 he graduated with honors from the University of California, San Diego with a BA in Sociology and a Minor in Urban Studies & Planning. He’s certified by the Office of Traffic Safety and is a certified instructor by the League of American Bicyclists. Since 2005, he’s been organizing people around bicycling issues in Mid City and the Urban Core area. Currently, he serves on a number of working groups including the State Route 15 Bus Rapid Transit “CenterLine” Area Study, the University Ave Mobility Study (54th St to 68th St), the I-805 BRT/47th St Trolley Station Study, the SANDAG Complete Streets Technical Advisory Group and is a Board Member of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition. He was born and raised in San Diego and grew up in the Castle Park Neighborhood of Chula Vista with his younger brother and primarily his mother who is from Brazil. He’s proud to be the lead transportation staff for an organization with a 30 year history of advocating/planning for better walking, biking, and transit infrastructure.
